The League One line- up for the forthcoming 2019-2020 season has been completed today with Sunderland the losing League 1 play-off finalists joining Tranmere, yesterdays victorious League 2 play-off finalists.

Sunderland took the lead through a bizarre own goal from Sarr after only 5 mins into the game. Charlton clawed themselves back into the game on 35 mins with a goal from Purrington.

The game seemed destined for extra-time but in the last of four minutes of time added on captain Patrick Bauer crashed home from close range for the most dramatic of Wembley winners.

As the season has finished for most teams, this weekend sees the final battles for league places and Wembley will be busy with six sets of adoring fans hoping their team will secure a place in the League above with the Championship Final on Monday supposed to be worth £170+ million pounds to the victorious team.

Saturday plays host to the League 2 hopefuls Newport County FC and Tranmere Rovers with the winner securing a place in a tough League One for the coming Season.

Sunday it’s the turn of the League One hopefuls looking for a place next seasons Championship, with Sunderland and Charlton Athletic fighting for that right. Sunderland are hoping that their recent visit to Wembley in the Checkatrade trophy Final will give them the edge despite being on the losing side that day.

Bank Holiday Monday sees a Clash of the Titans with Frank Lampards Derby County taking on Dean Smith’s Aston Villa. Lampard in his inaugural season as a Manager is now being linked with taking over the reigns of his former club Chelsea.
