Coventry finally got a goal from open play when Jonson Clarke-Harris headed into the net early in the second half at Priestfield Stadium to give City the lead at Gillingham. Unfortunately they were unable to hang on to their lead despite their dominance during the game when Elliot List equalised for the home team.
City have been boosted this week by finally getting their no. 1 summer target forward Conor Chaplin on loan from Portsmouth with the deal set to become permanent in the January transfer window. Chaplin has been given the number 10 shirt which was vacated by last season’s top scorer Marc McNulty.
Rochdale opened the season with a fine away win at newly relegated Burton Albion but have struggled for results since then other than a draw at Fleetwood. They were also knocked out of the Cup at Middlesborough’s Riverside stadium in midweek.
