First Name:
Kyle
Last Name:
Taylor
Midfielder Kyle Taylor joined AFC Bournemouth as a schoolboy and signed a six-year youth contract with the club when he was 12. He had joined the club’s academy two years previously having been spotted playing for Poole-based youth team Lytchett Red Triangle. He scored twice – including a memorable solo goal – to spearhead the Cherries to victory in the final of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup in May 2017. His finely-taken double helped them register a 4-2 victory over Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium. He also featured as the Cherries went down to Basingstoke in the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium. Having successfully graduated from the club’s youth ranks, he signed his first professional contract in July 2017, penning a two-year deal. He admitted he had become emotional when he phoned his father to tell him he had been handed the contract, which saw him move into the club’s under-21 set-up. Taylor joined Eddie Howe’s first-team squad on their pre-season training camp to Marbella in July 2017 and came on as a half-time substitute in the 2-1 win over Estoril in a friendly. He was handed his competitive first-team debut as an 87th-minute replacement for Andrew Surman during the Cherries’ 3-0 defeat by Wigan Athletic in an FA Cup third-round replay at the DW Stadium in January 2018. In February 2018, he signed a new contract, tying him to the club at least until the summer of 2020. Having spent the first half of the 2018/19 season sidelined due to a recurring muscle injury, Taylor was named in the Cherries starting line-up for their FA Cup third round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion at Vitality Stadium in January 2019. In January 2019, he signed a new three-and-a-half year contract at Vitality Stadium, tying him to the club at least under the summer of 2022.
